now i know that my idea of early morning is different from others.... but... my day starts around 7am each day. i get up get dressed and take Karlie to school. some days i get up and get Maya up & dressed so that we can go to the Y before we go home. today was one of those days. she woke up last night around 2am soaking wet (too much juice before bed.) so we were all tired this morning. i just grabbed some clothes for her and didn't even bother waking her up, just strapped her in and went.
on the way to the gym the tired started creeping up in me.... ugh.... i don't wanna go. maybe we should just go back home and see if we can sleep for a while.... no we can't.... she'll wake up when you try to get her out..... maybe not.... we can just go later this evening..... no. you have too much to do today....nah i can come later.... you can but you won't.... i will..... just go..... but..... GO!..... fine.
so i went. dressed my baby in the parking lot. and went inside. again it's the small victories, right? even if it's against yourself. =)
so today my back was bothering me so i went easy.... i only did a few machines and then got on the treadmill and did 1.18 miles. took 30 mins. but the music today.... i've debated about putting my workout playlist for each day on here and just haven't done it.... but today. today was perfect so i have to share.

Hey there, friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming to the end of my excuses re: my weight, and I'm ready to do something about it. After talking to a friend/counselor at church, i'm having to confront the truth that there's more going on with my weight issues than just extra trips through the buffet line.
So i'm looking at the Lord's Table program, since you seem to be sticking with it. But I have some questions, and was wondering if you could give me some insight as someone who's started this program.
So here are my questions:
1) What's the best part about it?
2) What's the worst part about it?
3) What's one thing you'd change about it?
4) Would you recommend it to others?
5) One criticism I've read is that the author considers this the ONLY God-honoring weight-control program. Do you see that kind of attitude in the materials you've read or been exposed to?
Sorry to spring this on you, but I trust your opinion, and I don't want to dive into something without investigating it, especially if it involves such deep and serious issues.
hey Dave!
ReplyDeletei would love to answer your questions! hopefully i can help.
ok the best part of LT i think is that it IS a daily commitment to be in the Word. and focusing on that instead of trying to fill any voids with food. i also like that i have the freedom to eat whatever i want. there are no foods that are off limits. i just have to be aware of where my triggers are... like for me it's coke. i can't have just one... if i have 1 then it's 4, ya know? i just have to be aware of those triggers
that could wreck my whole day. he uses pizza as an example, if i'm alone i shouldn't order a pizza b/c i know i'm going to eat the whole thing even if i don't need it.
2. the worst part for me is probably the daily Bible study... i hate to say that BUT it is for me at least a half an hour but usually more like an hour and a half. (b/c i have to chase Maya around) but at the same time i love it. b/c when i do it right it gives me things to think on (feast on) all day. and it makes me feel closer to God.
3. that's probably what i would change... shorter daily lessons. and they can be repetitive.
4. i would and have recommended it to others. but i always tell then about the daily lessons and the eating plan. it can be intense at first but once you get thru a couple of weeks you really don't think much about it.
5. i really haven't felt like that... he does talk about some other weight loss programs and why they don't always work but i don't remember him saying anything like thatbut that could be me just skimming over that. =)
i started this program b/c i heard Jimmy Needham talking about it on the radio and i thought i should look into that.... and then about a week later i heard the sanme interview and then heard it again a few days in a row. so i decided that i should definitely look into it. and i signed up. i've really had success with it. (when i stick with it.)
another of my favorite things about this program is that if they have the people, they assign you a mentor when you sign up and they encourage and help you along the way. and if you go ALL the way the the program you can be a mentor too. and i LOVE the thought of that.
in the end i'd say try it. what do you have to lose? if you don't like it or if you don't feel like it's a good fit for you then you don't have to continue with it.
you have my number right? you can call me anytime... and if you decide to do it you can use me as an accountability partner. whatever i can do to help. you let me know!
love you Dave!!!!
